One of the most important texts of occidental magic was Eliphas Levi’s “The Magic Ritual”. It is the source of this pentacle, believed by many to be one of the most powerful pentacle designs ever conceived. The Pentacle is the symbol of the microcosm; the cosmos recapitulated in human beings. There are five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Spirit. They constitute the primary forces of nature out of which the universe we live in is woven. We are made of these forces as well, and feeling these forces at work, and directing them through imagination is the essence of magic, both black and white.
